What is Erasmus+?
The European Union programme that gives students the opportunity to study abroad, do traineeships, and experience life in another country — all with financial support.
How it works
Erasmus+ gives students at higher education institutions the opportunity to either study abroad or complete traineeships in another participating country. During one study cycle — either Bachelor or Master level — the exchange can last between 2 and 12 months, and you can benefit from the programme multiple times within that period.
You choose your destination from the partner universities offered by your home institution. The programme is supervised by the National Agency of the Erasmus+ Programme in Bulgaria — the Human Resource Development Centre (HRDC), operating under the Ministry of Education and Science.
What Erasmus+ promotes
Erasmus+ promotes cooperation and mobility in all areas of education and professional training, and also supports sports initiatives. The programme has evolved significantly over the decades — until 2014 it operated under different names — and its goals are continuously updated to reflect the needs of the European education landscape.
Why go on Erasmus+?
The benefits of participating in Erasmus+ are countless. It is widely considered one of the most transformative experiences a student can have.
